Customer Service Representative (CSR)

Job Description

Customer Service Representatives contribute to the goals of Campus Recreation and the sense of community on the ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù campus.  This student position has responsibilities related to the overall daily operations of the assigned recreation facility.  This position works closely with the Associate Director, and the Recreation Supervisors, to ensure that all building policies and procedures are followed.

Specific Duties

  • Customer Service Representatives serve the need of customers in all areas of both recreational facilities on campus – the Wellness + Helfaer Recreation facility (WR) and the Rec Plex (RP)
  • Customer Service Representatives provide customer service in the following areas:
    • Facility Access – monitors Fusion as members enter the facility assuring all have current memberships
    • Equipment Checkout – checks out equipment, assures equipment is checked back in good condition and provides towels to members that have towel service (WR)
    • Court Attendant (WR only) – responsible for monitoring the two MAC Courts and four Tennis Courts at the WR, assuring only Varsity members, students, and paying members are using their properly assigned court. Continue to monitor Fusion to assure all guests playing have a reservation and are checked in, also assist with equipment needs in MAC courts and tennis courts
    • Fitness Center (RP only) – this team member assures the safety of members in the facility by making sure all are following the rules, including no dropping free weights and enforcing the dress code
  • See that participants and personnel are following all policies, rules, and regulations
  • Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required by the professional staff
  • Answer and handle all questions, problems, and complaints as given by participants and personnel
  • Understand Emergency procedures and situations and know what to do at each station
  • Perform any other duties as required by Campus Recreation

Time Commitment and Pay

  • Students in this role are required to work a minimum of 8 hours per week including some nights or weekends.
  • Scheduling takes place prior to the semester beginning, and hours are scheduled by the employee based on your class schedules.
  • Starting pay for this role is $10/hour.

Preferred Experience

Must be a student at ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù.  Interpersonal communication skills are necessary as are skills in organization, efficiency, teamwork and decision-making.  Must possess a friendly personality, trustworthiness, and have the ability to assert authority to peers and other patrons of the facility.  Must be able to perform duties in a firm, yet friendly, manner.

Prior customer service experience is strongly encouraged.

Marketing Supervisor

Job Description

In addition to the responsibilities of the Social Media Assistant, the Student Marketing Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Coordinator, Campus Recreation, and Graduate Assistant with the staffing and oversight of marketing initiatives.

Recreation Supervisor

Job Description

The Recreation Supervisor contributes to the goals of Campus Recreation and the sense of community on the ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù campus.  They serve in roles at the Recreation Supervisor and Member Services desks.  This student position has responsibilities related to the overall supervision of the assigned recreation areas, part-time student personnel and programs held, and memberships while on duty.  This position works closely with the Associate Director to ensure that all building policies and procedures are followed.

Specific Duties

  • The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for the operation of the building under arranged operating procedures especially during the absence of the professional staff.
  • Ensure that the building is open and closed at the prescribed times following the correct opening and closing procedures.
  • See that all part-time personnel are present, and at their assigned areas, when they are scheduled to work. If not present, the Recreation Supervisor is responsible for finding a replacement for that shift.
  • Administer first aid to injured victims and adhere to emergency procedures as established by Campus Recreation – must be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid during entire employment
  • Be familiar with all aspects of the building to facilitate efficient operation including keys, basic pool maintenance, and workings of fitness equipment and laundry duties.
  • Answer and handle all questions, problems, and complaints as given by participants and personnel.
  • Make regular rounds of the building looking for facility malfunctions, safety hazards or improper department operations.
  • Verify that security cameras are operational and all images are displayed on computer.
  • See that participants and personnel are following all policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Assist as needed with the intramural, recreational and non-academic instructions under the direction of the full-time staff to facilitate their efficient operation.
  • Be familiar with and supervise all emergency procedures such as building evacuations.
  • Be familiar with the alarms and fire extinguishers and know how to operate them.
  • Fill out a Recreation Supervisor Report indicating to the professional staff any and all malfunctions and abnormalities of the departments’ operation.
  • Fill out all accident and incident forms which should be described in detail and include all injuries and incidents.
  • Attend all staff meetings as required by the professional staff.
  • Be familiar with any facility rental contract during a particular shift and be able to properly supervise the group and assist with equipment/facility needs.
  • Be able to perform all Customer Service Representatives’ duties as outlined in their job description.
  • Perform any other duties as required by Campus Recreation.

Member Services Duties include:

  • The Member Services staff is the point of contact at each facility when handling memberships, passes, and any other member-related questions or concerns.
  • The Member Services person works in the Main Office at the Rec Plex and at the Member Services desk at the Wellness + Helfaer Recreation Center.
  • Must know all aspects of assigning memberships, lockers and towel services, and how to add Household Family members

Job Description

Student Service Technicians assist the Campus Recreation Maintenance Services Supervisor and their co-workers in operating a safe, clean and healthy recreational site.
