²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù to host weeklong series of events Oct. 2-8; Homecoming, Alumni Reunions to combine celebrations

MILWAUKEE — ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù will host a series of events and celebrations during , with signature events taking place Oct. 4 - 8.
"Homecoming week culminating with Alumni Reunion Weekend is the perfect opportunity for all members of the ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù community to come together and celebrate. I am continually amazed by the passion of this community and their dedication to ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù," said President Michael R. Lovell.
²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù is expecting to host more than 5,000 current students, alumni and friends. More than 30,000 ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù alumni live in southeast Wisconsin.
Homecoming events
Tuesday, Oct. 3: "Stuff the Truck" food drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Westowne Square. The goal of the event, which is a collaboration among Sodexo, Campus Kitchens Project, ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù Sustainability, ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù Employee Wellness and Groundwork Milwaukee, is to collect 4,500 pounds of food. President Lovell will attend this event from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Thursday, Oct. 5: Students, alumni, faculty and staff will take part in a "²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù's Got Talent" competition, which starts at 8:30 p.m. in the Varsity Theatre, 1326 W. Wisconsin Ave.
Friday, Oct. 6: Block party outside the Al McGuire Center, 770 N. 12th St., from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
4 p.m. — Teams will participate in a "Bed Races" competition to kick off the block party.
7 p.m. — The men's and women's basketball season officially kicks off with ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù Madness.
Saturday, Oct. 7:
8 a.m. — Sidewalks of Westowne Square will be transformed into a colorful display of drawings. The community's most imaginative artists will showcase their talents using chalk. Awards ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m.
10:30 a.m. — "Blue and Gold Foam 5K Run/Walk" run/walk at Mitchell Park Domes. Proceeds from this event will support ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù's Midnight Run, a volunteer service program focused on the particular needs of the hungry and homeless people living in the community around ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù.
7 p.m. — Fitz and the Tantrums and AJR will rock ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù's campus at this year's concert. The private concert is free and open to ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù students, alumni, faculty and staff. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 8: A special Homecoming Mass will close out the celebration at the Church of the Gesu at 6 p.m.
